What is MixedUsage?
MixedUsage is a Canadian Rap/HipHop outlet based out of Montreal and Toronto. Our aim is to shine a light on the Rap Sphere both mainstream and underground. Our name derives from the fact that our platform is not only a convergence of mediums: Radio, Video, Written Works, Music Curration, Etc but that our content shows the meeting point meeting Rap Culture and other Internet/Geographical Culture.
What is Rap Radar?
Rap Radar is a weekly radio show created and presented by MixedUsage broadcasted on CJLO 1690 AM. Rap Radar can be heard on 1690AM in Montreal or Online on CJLO's website worldwide every Wednesday @ 9PM EST. All episodes can also be found in our episode archive and be re-listened to anytime. In our archive you'll also find a Spotify playlist with the episode's tracks. Each week a new geographical location is picked, viewers are shown underground and Popular rappers from said location. Rap Radar follows the same segment format every week:
Intro/New Release Segment - The episodes theme is announced and we play our favourite new Rap releases of the past week.
Main Segment - Usually highlighting a geographical location, we explore the rap underground of a particular location and lesser known songs and features of the bigger rap songs from that location.
Outro/Canadian Segment: To close out our show, we bring listeners back to Canada playing our favourite underground Canadian artists emergining across the country with the hopes our growing our rap scene.
Our Goals for Canada's Rap Scene:
Providing a new stage for emerging Canadian artists: We want to grow a platform where we can help emerging artists not only in Canada but across the globe grow and help share their art to more people. We want to help make Canada and it's respective cities known for it's bubbling rap scenes and showcase our talent many of which goes unnoticed. We've started work on this by playing Canadian rap on every episode of our radio show Rap Radar.
Highlighting Rap Events Across Canada: We want to help bring more attention to upcoming Rap events within Canada, spefically in major cities such as Montreal and Toronto where MixedUsage is based out of. We hope to want collaborate with event holders to capture concerts so fans can relive the best moments they may have missed.
Showcasing Canada's Influence: Canada gets more love in the rap sphere then you may think! We want to catalouge when rappers show love to our country via song references, shoutouts, interview highlights and more. This will help bring more notority to Canada, it's rappers and rap fans.
Canadian Interview Questions: With the growth of our platform we'll grow the chance to talk to more Rappers,Producers,Engineers and others within the industry. We'll use this opportunity to ask atypical questions with a highlight on Canada and Canadian rap.

TikTok: Massing over 566,000 views, 100,000 likes, catching attention of Rap Gurus such as Anthony Fantano, MixedUsage has had several Viral videos on Tiktok and continues to grow.
Instagram: Our Instagram provides regular updates as to what the theme of our weekly Rap Radar episode will be, episode highlights, shortform content, Canadian rap content and more.
Youtube: With our first video "20 Rap References to The Sopranos" quickly gaining traction, we hope to Continue to grow through Rap videos/essays, news, concert recaps and more.
